What is the Fawohodie Membership Club?
Fawohodie Membership Club (FMC) exists to incubate and base build via tangible Solidarity Economy projects such as microlending circles (a.k.a. sou-sous), tenant rights organizations, community land trusts, neighborhood time banks, childcare collectives, community gardens, worker cooperatives, and so much more. These projects provide liberatory alternatives to existing oppressive systems so our communities can make a Just Transition into a sustainable future. FMC supports the development and organizing of localized community-based solutions to keep our work sustainable and accountable to liberatory values. FMC members collectively engage in cooperative development opportunities, consent-based decision-making, resource mobilizing, and community benefiting work.
VISION
Ultimately, our organization aims to be an Afrofuturist
re-imagining of labor and community built upon Black Liberation, Womanist Praxis, Black Feminist Theory, and Solidarity Economy Principles. We aspire to build the perfect workplace for Black women and femmes using qualitative research, first-hand experiences, and extensive network tapping to pull in both liberatory practices and healthy models of political engagement.
